"Learn to Fly" Training Course - R 3500-00

Introduce yourself to solo free flight by developing the basic skills for paragliding through this informative 4 day - 10 flight training course. Note: These 10 flights are weather dependant and can take more or less than 4 flying days. (You have a month to complete these flights.)
Comprises of:-
SAHPA (SA Hang Gliding & Paragliding Association) Temporary Membership valid for 5 months
SAHPA Training Manual
Winching Manual
All the necessary paragliding equipment

Theory

- Introduction to Equipment
- Introduction to Weather Assessment
- Safety Aspects
- Winch Conversion

Practicals

- Ground Handling
- Preparation for Flight
- In-flight Canopy Control
- Landing Procedures
- Safety
- 10 Winch Flights
- Full Supervision with Personal Assistance

On completion of this course you will have experienced the wonder of following the birds into the sky. At this stage you are welcome to join us on the Basic License Course which will quickly take you to a confidence level with the ability to fly on your own.

Note: Both courses must be completed. It is not possible to start straight away with the Basic Pilot License course.

Basic Pilot License - R 3500-00

Put the knowledge and experience you have gained as a student pilot to good use. This intensive course covers takes you to a total of 35 flights (with the 'Learn to Fly'). The  Basic Pilot's License is normally achieved within 2 to 3 months. Some pilots achieve their license in less time than this and others take longer. Our training obligation lasts until the pilot achieves their Basic License or until the Temporary Student License (valid for 5 months) expires whichever comes first. The Temporary Student License can be renewed for a further 5 months, see Terms and Conditions for details. After the 35 flights have been achieved the pilot has the option to rent equipment from us or purchase their own.
Comprises of:-
Continuation of the previous course facilities including full use of all school equipment.
35 flights in total (includes the 10 flights from the "Learn to Fly"
Advanced ground handling
Basic Thermalling
Basic safety maneuvers
Mountain flying at a minimum of 2 different mountain sites.
With the use of videos, theory lectures, practical lessons, the required number of winch launch and mountain launch flights, we will bring you to the Basic Pilot Level.
Basic License Exam (lectures are givin weekly to aid you in completion of  the exam).



Team Building Fun - R1000.00

Forget the Tandem Flight- Fly on your own.
This course is aimed at groups of  5 to 10 people. You will get the same training as a Learn to fly student bu will only get 2 flights.
This course should take one week end.

By doing this course you will be eligible to upgrade to the Learn to Fly course to an extra R2000
Tandem Paragliding - R400.00
Fly with an experienced instructor.
This activity is aimed at the person that wants to have a flying experience, yet does not want to go trough the training process
You need to bring a good pair of boots, jeans a long sleeve top.
The cost off the tandem flight is deductible from the Learn to Fly course fees as long as the course is booked and paid for within 2 weeks from the tandem flight.

What to take?
- A good set of boots, preferably hiking boots with good ankle support
- Preferably long trousers like jeans (not your best pair)
- Something to eat and lots to drink (No alcohol)
- Extra strong sun block and a hat
- Insect repellent
- Deck chairs and an umbrella
- Warm clothes for early mornings and evenings
- Sense of humour

Where to go? 
Dunnottar Aerodrome
Travel east on the N17 toll highway from Johannesburg to Springs. Go pass the Carnival City Casino on the left hand side and trough the next toll gate. Take the Nigel/Witweg off ramp (shortly after the highway narrows into a single lane). Turn left towards Nigel. Travel for 8.2 km and turn left at the Dunnottar Military Base sign. Drive 60 meters and turn right onto the old R51 road. Continue for about 100 meters until you reach the first or second entrance on your left. Drive through the gate and look for us on the airfield.  Refer to MAP
